Ubuntu

Ubuntu. I AM BECAUSE WE ARE.

The inter-connectedness of all beings. Ubuntu remind us that no one is an island — all our actions impact others.

I remember reading some years back about a missionary visiting an African village.

When he called out to the children, saying he had toffees for them, they did not jostle and compete to get to him.

They held hands and ran to him as one and shared the toffees.

Desmond Tutu says a person in Ubuntu is available to others, does not feel threatened by others and feels diminished if others are humiliated.

Inspired by this philosophy, South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth, launched Ubuntu “the world’s most popular free OS.” in 2005, to compete with Microsoft.

This Ubuntu is all about open source development — people are encouraged to improve upon the software so that it continually gets better.

I experience Ubuntu in coaching – the collaborative dance with the client, the deep caring and connectedness.

I have the privilege of knowing many people who live by this beautiful philosophy, who generously lift others up. Some are here… Rajat Garg Doorva Bahuguna Dr. Kalindi Kale Luis Miranda Venkat Krishnan

How can you live Ubuntu? Who can you lift up today?
